A recent police reports revealed that a man at the age of 26 was arrested for stabbing a different man near the Granby Auto Wash in Granby, CT. The assailant stabbed the other man in the stomach multiple times at the car wash that is located on Salmon Brook Street on Friday 16th of January 2016.
Dellard Martin is the reported assailant. He is not from the city of Granby, but rather from the nearby city of Hartford, CT. The two men reportedly knew one another prior to the altercation but information related to why Martin chose to stab the victim is still unclear. Shortly after Martin stabbed the victim he fled the scene prior to his arrest.
Martin didn’t get far before he was discovered by police. His vehicle has found near Blue Hills Avenue in Bloomfield. There, Martin was arrested and taken into police custody for further questioning and detainment.
Even though the victim was injured he was still able to maintain consciousness and was sent to St. Francis Hospital to receive emergency surgery for his stab wounds. He was later released from the hospital the next day when medical professionals found that his stab wounds were not life threatening.
Since the stab wounds were not life threatening Martin was only charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree assault. He was able to be released on bail prior to his hearing at court.
The Grand Police Department have shown recent concern over the violence in the area. This altercation easily could have had a much more dire result that left someone dead and another man in prison for life. Stabbings are not inconsequential and often times are just as deadly as a gun shot wounds. At the age of 26 Martin will be charged as an adult for his crimes.
